And also book sale revenue!
There's a lot of people these days trying to become successful on YouTube.
I get it.
Times are tough. Many are barely getting by financially. But depending on YouTube or any online platform is risky. Earnings fluctuate month to month, as my own earnings do.
Yet I intended my channel to be more as a hobby anyway, starting it inititially with curiosity to even see if my videos would even be interesting to viewers.
I suppose one advantage to that is I'm retired, and already live below my means, so having a YouTube channel is a perfect fit.
Yet even with a full time job, it only takes a half hour or so to record a video, upload it and write a description. It doesn't even cost anything to create a channel and has no monthly fees, so anyone can do this with little time and effort.
I've settled into a routine of posting one video every day, scheduling them at the same time each morning at 9:00 a.m. What happened was something I never expected. Many suscribers have become accustomed to my routine and look forward to each new video every morning!
Oh, almost forgot!
My latest suscriber count, as of today, is 14,180. Heck, I only had 47 in January!
And what's even more amazing is I'm terrified of public speaking, yet have no problem having 'a conversation' with my phone! Sure, I know people are 'out there' but for some reason it's easy and I enjoy it.
So how much money have I made from my YouTube channel since I became monitized six months ago?
Beginning with Feb. 5th of this year when I became monetized, here are my first six months earnings:
Feb. $86.92
March. $1,178.21
April $1,521.69
May $521.01 (posted less videos)
June $1,165.19
July $905.10
Total YouTube earnings for the first six months: $4,473.02
And what's even more amazing are my book sales!
Since I often talk in my videos about experiences I've also written about, sometimes I mention my three self-published books. It not only perks interest but generates sales I would not have had otherwise.
So, in addition to my earnings from YouTube, I earned from KDP for the month of July, $170.00. I sold 167 books for that month, so I guess it comes out to about a dollar a book. I price my books at the minimum KDP requires.
Why?
I guess I get more enjoyment out of people reading my books than making money. Although I could probably raise the prices a bit, I never will, but continue to write more books and promote them on my channel!
I only recently thought of mentioning my books in my videos. I suppose if I'd done it sooner I might have sold more.
Yes, this income is all taxable.
I've created a separate savings account just for YouTube and book sales income and will deduct from it at taxtime.
I plan to write more books and continue promoting them on my channel, and why not? I write and publish them at no cost, and promote them at no cost, so all revenue is all profit!
How much fun can a girl have?
