I'm surprised how many people pick up the phone first thing in the morning. For me, that's a big no-no. Why? I don't believe you need to bring the outside world into your own world first. Most of the headlines are negative anyway.

My morning routine determines the mood of my day. If I don't get the time for what I need to do, I find that the day runs ahead of me, and I'm playing catch up. Here are my top five tips for the morning to be happier all day.

  1. Give Gratitude

This is a great way to keep control of your day by giving gratitude. I learned this powerful way of dealing with the demons in the beginning. Gratitude. Demons hate gratitude. It's acts a bit like Bleach. Stops them dead in their tracks,

Every time I engaged in gratitude, the demons started to diminish. It also helped to shift perspective and reduce negative thinking each day. I still do give gratitude each day. The more I do it, the lighter I feel.

2. Keep the Phones Away From Your Sleeping Area

It amazes me how many people keep their phones beside their beds. I would invite you to keep your phone away from the sleeping area. Better still, establish a specific time at night after which you won't use your devices. Use a traditional alarm clock instead of your phone.

Alarm Reminders: Set a nightly alarm to remind yourself to put your device down. Use features like "Night Shift" or "Blue Light Filter" to reduce eye strain and signal your body that it's bedtime. Use the "Do Not Disturb" mode or manually mute app notifications during the evening.

Develop a calming bedtime routine such as meditation, deep breathing, or listening to soothing music. Charge Outside Bedroom. Set up your charging station outside of your bedroom to avoid the temptation.

3. Self-Talk Your Way To Happiness

This is a make-or-break moment for many people. Did you know that 99.9% of your fears will never become a reality? However, Many people become miserable because of their self-talk.

You spend all day with yourself, so you may as well speak nicely to yourself, too.

Choose better sentences and words. It's essential to rewrite outdated scripts because they don't serve you today. I know many people who tell me they're fed up with their mental script, which ends up playing on auto-loop. Guess what? You might not be able to switch it off, but you can change how you speak to yourself.

Choose powerful words instead of words that crush you. Start by doing an audit and look at the quality of the words or sentences; replace the ' I should've, could've and would've..' with 'I can..' and 'I will..'.

4. Connect With Someone Who Has Positive Energy

Whether we realise it or not, we are greatly influenced by the company we keep. When we surround ourselves with positivity, support, and encouragement, we are more likely to feel motivated, confident, and capable of overcoming challenges.

However, if our inner circle is filled with negativity, criticism, and pessimism, it can harm our mental and emotional well-being. Negative energy is contagious, and being around individuals who constantly bring us down can hinder our personal growth and limit our potential.

5. Embrace The Power of Breathing

Learn to Breathe. Seriously? Yes seriously. Demons don't like it when you're in control because they no longer hold on you. Use deep breathing (breathe in for the count of five, have for the count of five and breathe out for the count of five). Do this three times when you're up against it. This technique will help calm your mind and reduce anxiety.

Parting Comments

I'm a firm believer that we have more control than we think we do. You'll start reaping handsomely once you establish a routine that works with you. I'm not asking you to wake up at the crack of dawn or go and sit on a mountaintop; that's not practical. However, if you adopt the above, you'll change how you approach the day.

Thank you for your attention.
